A Real world “Star Wars”, Robot Astronauts in Space…..C3P0 is that you?

However far modern science and techniques have fallen short of their inherent possibilities, they have taught mankind at least one lesson; nothing is impossible.

Lewis Mumford

This quote is something I truly believe.  Every great piece of innovation was once thought to be impossible.  If you can think of it, it can be done!

Once upon a time flying cars were just an idea in movies like “Back to the Future”, now they are a reality.  Once upon a time the possibility of travelling at the speed of sound,  in a tube in the sky was just an idea in a George Jetson Cartoon, now it is currently in concept stage.  I remember watching minority report and thinking these hollywood guys have gone to far.  You mean Tom Cruise is interacting with the computer screen just by waving his hands, now you can do that on your home PC!

Now it just got even better 🙂  Remember C3P0 and R2D2?  They were the loveable robots in the movie “Star Wars” that followed the young Jedi Luke skywalker around the galaxy.  They served as his companion, and got him out of many galactical jams!

Well Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Kirobo the robot.  The world’s first Robot Astronaut companion.  Kirobo was launched into space to serve as a companion to lonely astronauts, Just like C3P0.  (Side note doesn’t kirobo look a bit like Megaman?)

This is part of the Kibo Robot Project in Japan.  Kirobo’s mission is to fly to the International Space Station “Kibo” Japan Test building,  and have a conversation with Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata

Robot companions in space, wow! Anything is possible, now if somebody could just train me in the ways of the “force” everything would be perfect 🙂  May the force be with you, and as always…………………….Stay Mobile!
